Paddle Tip 1 – Around the Bathing Area

Weyregg Starting Point: Bathing area Weyregg at Lake Attersee
Duration: Approx. 1 to 1.5 hours
Difficulty: Easy to moderate (depending on wind and weather)
Distance: Approx. 4–6 km (depending on route and breaks)

Route:
Starting at the bathing area Weyregg:
Start your tour right at the Weyregg bathing area where you put the SUP board into the water. The shallow entry makes it easy to get in.

Tips: Use the first minute to paddle calmly and get comfortable with the board.

Paddle northeast (towards the town of Weyregg):
Head toward the northern shoreline and keep right to enjoy a beautiful view of the Weyregg lakeside promenade and the shoreline. The water here is generally calm, allowing for a relaxed paddling pace. Along the way, you can explore various coves and quiet sections of the shore. The Attersee features crystal-clear water in this area, so on calm days you can see down to the lakebed.

Careful transition to the west:
After 20–30 minutes, you’ll reach the Weyregg bay – a small, beautiful, and tranquil area perfect for relaxing. Consider taking a short break here to enjoy the scenery and have a drink.

Continue west toward the lily bay:
From the bay, paddle further west toward the lily bay (between Weyregg and the Höllengebirge mountains). This route offers stunning views of the surrounding hills and mountains. Another short break is perfect here for relaxing or taking photos.

Turning point:
After about 1 hour of paddling (depending on speed and break time), you’ll reach your turnaround point – either at the lily bay or a bit further. From here, paddle back to the Weyregg bathing area.

Return route:
On your way back, enjoy the shoreline again – it may look different under the changing sunlight. You can return along the same route or paddle slightly farther from the shore for a new perspective.

Caution: If the wind comes from the south, the return trip can be more demanding. If it’s calm, the return will be very relaxed.

Paddle Tip 2 – Around Lake Attersee

Weyregg Starting Point: Bathing area Weyregg at Lake Attersee
Duration: 2 to 4 hours (depending on pace and breaks)
Difficulty: Moderate (depending on wind and weather)
Distance: 10–15 km (depending on route and breaks)

Route:

  1. Starting point: Bathing area Weyregg (0 km)
Begin your tour directly at the Weyregg bathing area. After a short warm-up, you can enjoy the peaceful and beautiful atmosphere of Lake Attersee.

Tips: Use the first few minutes to get comfortable with the board and the water before heading off.

  2. Paddle south (approx. 30 minutes – 2 km)
Paddle along the southern shoreline of the Attersee towards Unterach. This section offers great views of the surrounding mountains and the lake’s clear waters. You’ll pass quiet shorelines and discover small coves and beaches.
Destination: After around 30 minutes, you’ll reach a small beach near Unterach. Here, you can take a short break to enjoy the view or go for a swim.

  3. Continue eastward (approx. 40 minutes – 3–4 km)
Continue the tour past Unterach, paddling along the lake’s eastern shoreline towards Seefeld. This route offers not only scenic lakeside landscapes but also views of the forested hills around the lake. You’ll come across many quiet bays and secluded spots – perfect for another rest or swim.
Tip: Expect to paddle for 1.5 to 2 hours before reaching the eastern part of Lake Attersee. If you want to limit the tour to 2 hours, consider a longer break in Seefeld and turn back from there.

  4. Return to Weyregg (approx. 1 to 1.5 hours – 5–6 km)
After a long break in the eastern area (or if you continue on to Seefeld or Attnang-Puchheim), begin your return. Paddle along the northern shoreline back towards Weyregg. Depending on the wind and your pace, this stretch can take about 1 to 1.5 hours. On the way back, enjoy new perspectives and keep an eye out for local birdlife.

  5. Destination: Bathing area Weyregg (End of the tour)
Once you reach the northern shore, paddle back to the bathing area Weyregg, where you can take your board out of the water and wrap up your day with a swim or a snack at the beach.
